WA: Prisoner who allegedly stole super's car recaptured

A convicted car thief who allegedly stole a prison superintendent's car and used itas a getaway vehicle to escape from jail has been recaptured.

Thirty-one-year-old DEAN LEE ANDREWS escaped from the low-security Wooroloo prisonfarm in Perth's outer suburbs on January 21 with two other inmates who were later recaptured.

The trio allegedly got hold of the government-leased Holden Commodore after the keyswere left in the ignition as it was being cleaned and detailed by another prisoner.

The car was recovered the same night.

ANDREWS was taken into custody yesterday after police found him hiding in the roofof a house in suburban Joondanna.

He has been charged with escaping legal custody, stealing a motor vehicle and drivingwithout a licence.
