Cracking the color code: assignment 5 in a series of 10.

In oils and watercolors, John Singer Sargent always nailed his color schemes--a big reason his paintings still seize our attention today. This month, we're taking a close look at one of his oil paintings as an example of color mastery.

As you know, the aim of this 10-part series is to help your students become color competent, and that's the best way I know to inspire them to keep painting. Each lesson is quick and easy, and all they'll need is a standard color wheel.
