Qld: Disabled man to appear again in court tomorrow

A man accused of extortion and poisoning painkillers with strychnine will appear in
the Brisbane Magistrates Court again tomorrow.

Sixty-two-year-old DENNIS DONALD FOUNTAIN of Chapel Hill, in Brisbane's west, has been
charged with a range of offences including extortion and the attempted murder of his own
wife.

FOUNTAIN is accused of poisoning headache capsules and then extorting paracetamol companies,
Herron Pharmaceuticals and SmithKline Beecham International, the makers of Panadol.

In a brief mention of the case in the magistrates court today FOUNTAIN, who is in custody,
was remanded to reappear for mention tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be the last opportunity for a Supreme Court hearing before the Christmas vacation.

FOUNTAIN'S defence team has said his health would deteriorate without bail, particularly
as he requires hydrotherapy five times a week in order to remain mobile.
