``They generally cost $100 more in the fall, but also they're going to be hard to find,'' said Scott Benson, co-owner of Benson's Hardware in Derry, about 30 miles south of Concord.
Last winter's heavy snowfall has consumers thinking ahead even with temperatures in the 90s. Manufacturers are making more machines to accommodate the increased demand. Retailers are stocking up early, and offering layaway plans and discounts.
