NSW: Police divers search Young dams for missing woman

Police divers will today begin searching a chain of dams in south-western NSW for thebody of a 19-year-old mentally disabled woman.

AMBER MICHELLE HAIGH, from Kingsvale, south of Young, disappeared on June the 5th lastyear, leaving behind a five-month-old son.

The father of her child told investigators he had dropped her off at Campbelltown trainstation, in Sydney's west.

She had intended to travel to Mt Druitt to visit her sick father.

Police say although Ms HAIGH had the mental capacity of a 10-year-old, she was familiarwith train travel.

A police spokesman says the divers' search will focus on a number of dams in the Kingsvalearea as part of investigations by Strike Force Villamar.

Anyone with information that could help police locate Ms HAIGH is requested to callYoung Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
