Fed: The sneeze to take centre stage at Tropfest

SYDNEY, Aug 8 AAP - The action of sneezing has been chosen as the signature item for
the 2007 Sony Tropfest short film festival.

The Tropfest signature item (TSI) must be included in all entries to the festival,
which has been running for 14 years.

Previous signature items have included a bubble, umbrella, hook, match, horn, bug,
kiss, chopsticks, pickle, coffee bean, muffin and a teaspoon.

"For something different this year, we wanted to make the requirement an action, instead
of the usual object," said Tropfest founder and creative director John Polson.

"Sneeze will encourage people to think laterally about how they use the TSI and hopefully
have some fun with it.

"I'm sure audiences around the country will thoroughly enjoy the different ways filmmakers
incorporate `Sneeze' into their films."

The event has grown significantly since its inaugural event in 1993, when an audience
of a few dozen watched one short film at its Sydney birthplace, the Tropicana Cafe in
Darlinghurst.

Tropfest now attracts between 600 and 800 films each year with the 2007 entries to
be submitted by January 11 with the event to be held on February 18.
